What’s in the pipeline for this week’s Stripped Down session?
Stripped Down constantly has something newfangled for the Sunday chill. After a kick-back weekend and just before the start of another long work-week ahead, there’s nothing more comforting than to spend the seventh day unwinding with these hypnotics!
And what’s to stop the fresh naked best-sellers to be incorporated into our sedating playlist, right? Last night we got a feel of them and hey, keep ‘em coming, I say!
The acoustic version of pop funk’s Hey Everybody by the Australian foursome 30 Seconds Of Summer which they released last October 9 sounded like a winner! Containing elements from Duran Duran’s popular song Hungry Like A Wolf, this track peeled to its bare essentials made a statement when it first aired on Y101... and the rest is history!
Ellie Goulding’s electropop sensation Love Me Like You Do obviously plucked every woman’s heartstrings when it performed for the first time on the show, as they related the ever-so-popular track to the ever-so-anticipated movie Fifty Shades Of Grey.
Demi Lovato’s pop rock acoustic version of Confident had nothing to envy any of the new tracks debuting on Stripped Down. It was truly an epic rendition of the second single released on September 18, 2015 from her fifth studio album carrying the same name. Constantly tweeting and thanking Y101 over www.y101fm.com, we’re definitely biased about her songs – she’s one of our preferred artists for obvious reasons!
Another greenhorn feature on the show was The Vaccines’ cover of OMI’s Cheerleader – it was soothing to listen to that Jamaican reggae fusion from these newbies at the BBC Radio Live Lounge. A great song with fine vocals, it certainly was music to my ears!
A couple of notable performances I’d like to make mention of: Ne-Yo’s acoustic presentation of So Sick which sounded so angelic and Tasmin Archer’s live acoustic gig of Sleeping Satellite.
