Pipe down and zone out to the breezy panache acoustics peeled down to their basics for Stripped Down. To culminate the chill Sunday playlist of unwinding tracks following our beach house session Sunset Cruise, here’s the perfect solution to end every weekend, relaxing to some kick back music to saddle up for the working weekdays ahead.

Last night, we had some fresh tracks for you to veg out on. Four Five Seconds by James Bay covering Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul Mc Cartney in the Radio 1 Live Lounge was among the most prominent new releases stripped down leaving our listeners in awe.

John Newton’s amazing cover of Carly Rae Jepsen’s Run Away With Me in the Live Lounge for Clara Amfo and BBC Radio 1 definitely captivated our audience as well. His unbending version of the song with his unique voice that’s very much on point, makes this more than a brilliant acoustic – and btw, the gospel singers complementing the track was unreal! And after having collaborated with Rudimental, Newton has only strived to become a better singer...

Another Y101 favorite by Calvin Harris Featuring The Disciples, covered by Charlie Puth was How Deep Is Your Love. An exceptional gig by the young American singer and songwriter who first gained popularity over YouTube also debuted this on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. For someone new in the music scene, he’s certainly made quite an impression, especially with this epic track.

In addition, Disclosure & Sam Smith featured another one for the books. Covering Drake’s Hotline Bling, this blue-chip was explosive! The hook up was once again performed at the Live Lounge for BBC Radio 1 and was greatly welcomed into our playlist.

A couple of notable mentions, outstanding for their rock influence on the show – Rolling Stones gilt-edged Bossa version of It's Only Rock & Roll (But I Like It) covered by Banda Do Sul, appropriate for the mood and the live acoustic edition by Tears For Fears, Everybody Wants To Rule The World.

Undeniably, a great show it was last night on Stripped Down as it featured loads of incredibly melting acoustic tracks on Y101 Always First
