As I'm writing this article, I'm sitting in with The Stud – an absolute intense experience since I never get to go on board with this pro!
It was the chance of a lifetime to ambush Chad and ask him if it was really true that he was our on-air playboy, the moniker I use on him on my write-ups. And to my surprise, he replied he was indeed "but only while I'm on board!" so for all you girls (or guys!) that have a crush on our sweet-tempered deejay, you know when to call in your requests and flirt with this gorgeous, good-natured chap who's on every lunchtime on the Midday Vibe here at Y101.
So we blabbed on air about all sorts of leitmotifs, kicking it off with a quiz on what his favorite tune was for this year. Of course this has to be the hardest question to answer for a music lover and programming connoisseur, who probably has gazillions of tracks in his mind he'd like to acknowledge. "You're putting me in a spot here" blushes sugary Chad as I waylaid him with such a buttonhole. "I guess Rudimental Featuring Ed Sheeran has to be up there with Lay It All On Me but then again I really like Sigala's Easy Love" which I replied to "That's one of my faves as well – Rudimental that is"...
Amazingly, we had a relatively interesting conversation on The Biebs because for some odd reason, Chad The Stud happens to find Justin Bieber's songs this year quite compelling contrary to most of the DJs here at Y101. I personally can't stand his song What Do You Mean although Sorry is not too bad – but Chad has a different view altogether. He feels he's matured quite a bit and in all fairness to the poor bloke, he actually has gone from a two-year-old to three!
Moving on to more blather on-air, I asked him who he thought was the hottest chic in the entertainment industry nowadays and shockingly he responded that most of the divas didn't fire him up. He doesn't find Ariana Grande or Demi Lovato exciting, not because he doesn't like them but because he remembers them as the teeny boppers of the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon but here's what he thinks of one megastar: a sophisticated beauty in her 40s and a super performer – the American singer, songwriter, record producer and actress Mariah Carey tops them all!
After an inspiring interview with a maven, we both concluded the show wishing Midday Vibe listeners a great 2016 as the New Year closes in on us! We also sent John M well wishes for a swift recovery from his ailment and welcomed Icky to the Afternoon Drive as he sits in for the big Kahuna...
In the meantime, from Chad The Stud and me, keep it locked into the Midday Vibe from 10 AM – 2 PM Mondays through Fridays and don't get left behind. As he would say: "It's only here at Y101 Always First that you'll catch cutting-edge winners!"
