It was great babbling with my buddy Carlow during his All Night Live board work last night – a moment I frankly look forward to, exchanging notes about tunes and lots of other topics with my Hip Hop kinda DJ.
Yesterday, he defined All Night Live to be that time of the day to chill, listen to music to unwind from a hectic day and merely not be troubled by what can happen next. “It is a window we all have to be laid back” says Carlow, nothing amazing coming from our chill, laid back superstar himself!
All Night Live greets people and accepts their requests. “I used the term live in the title of my show as it should symbolize that people can call in and talk to me (the DJ) to play their requests instantly” and the veracity of the matter is that nowadays, there are so many canned shows or technicians to do the job when action calls for genuineness behind that mic. “I’m here to talk to my audience and hear them out” says Carlow. Now how’s that for a one-on-one with an authentic celeb?
When I asked him why he always played the widely held track by the electronic duo Disclosure on his slot, he told me that Omen was mostly requested during his stretch and he admitted that he was quite fond of the song as well. “I like the R&B component in the song” but he continues to say “There are some great remakes out there” citing Tom’s Diner by Giorgio Moroder Featuring Britney Spears as his pick of the week. Indeed a super remake dating way back to its original version released in 1987 as an a cappella by Suzanne Vega, so Carlow scores once again with his choice cut for the week!
In closing, he shouted out to his audience: “Keep it locked in and simply call me or text in your requests – I’ll try to fit them all in!” and there you have it from the maestro who always prioritizes his listeners.
So yes, do keep it cuffed to Y101 Always First and lay it back with Carlow from 6PM-10PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and just chill…
