If you need an adrenaline rush to wake you up in the morning, I know the right dude who will never fail you with the hottest hits! He’s that perfect cup of coffee that arouses you while he takes you on a cheerful drive to school or work. For his listeners, his name is Jiggy Junior; for me, he’s the Megastar Jiggy whose big voice behind the mic speaks out to the myriads of kiddos, moms and pops that are locked into his show, Jiggy in the Morning

After chatting with this celeb about his show, I can only say one word about him: epic! He tells me that the whole idea is to start the morning on a positive note as we are at a day and age that there is so much information we need to absorb. He further voices out that it is important for us to provide a media outlet that does not bombard so much negativity, especially when other stations sensationalize turmoil.

“There is so much bad news out there” says Jiggy “that people are becoming more negative nowadays”. And with this being said, his show indeed provides a solace and an oasis for listeners to see the brighter side of things. “This is not telling our audience not to care, but to care for the right things: the person in front of you, your spouse, your mom, your dad, your sister, your brother – not about Malacañang, Nepal and all the tragic things happening around us.” He continues saying “All this merits our attention but the crucial thing here is that one should be more in touch with the important things around them because there’s nothing we can do to change the events that have already happened”.

And true this is…

When asked how music plays its part here, Jiggy replies: “Music is the cure-all, a panache – it changes the way your brain works at the most devastating times of your life. Music makes you feel a lot better if you hear the right song at the right time. It tells you that everything is going to be alright.”

Earlier, over lunch, we a conversation on a future collaboration between Adele and Justin Bieber and here’s what he had to say: “Bieber’s handlers have overcome the lowest point in his musical career nevertheless, this would be a musical suicide. Adele is up there and Justin is still crawling up to music relevance. She is so pure, I wouldn’t want to see her music mudded by Bieber…”

As for his top 10 female artists: Sheryl Crow, Adele, Norah Jones, Chrissie Hynde from the Pretenders, the Wilson sisters from Heart, contemporary artist Paramour, and Taylor Swift are among his list of faves. “I like the way she writes her thoughts and how she takes advantage of her life situations and turns them into a song” says Jiggy as he thinks of Tay. He’s a huge fan of Madonna, Alanis Morrissett and Sarah McLaughlin.

When asked if he liked Lady Gaga, Jiggy said “I’m not a huge fan of Gaga but I like the way she manipulates media – she’s the singing Howard Stearn!”

And this is what’s in the mind of that bad-ass voice behind the early morning scene from 6 AM – 10 AM Mondays through Fridays on Y101 Always First
