When we talk of senior DJs, we refer to certified bests like Carlow! He doesn’t just play recorded music for his audience on radio – he actually mixes for venues like bars and clubs. This alone confirms his skill and passion for music and Y101 Always First takes pride in schmoozing about him and his show All Night Live!
But let’s not chinwag about his regular board-work but rather what he enjoys most about his show. We already know that he loves hip-hop through his previous gig Beats and Rhymes which incidentally, it’s buzzing that he’ll be starting that up again soon – so obviously, he’ll uncover some of his hidden treasures during his time slot to promote his show, right Mr. DJ?
When asked why he enjoys doing board work at 6PM, he explains in his very chill demeanor that most of his listeners are in cars, either driving home from work or if they’re on night shifts, going to work “and I like to play songs to make them relax and feel better than just being stuck in traffic”. So yes, Carlow keeps it calm and stressfree with his mid-tempo, sing and groove tracks. And when asked what excites him about his time slot, he replies “I’m not a morning person” – he’s more energetic and active at night and I can certainly vouch for that!
When I asked him to name his favorite male artists in 30 seconds, he hesitated a bit because unquestionably, he must have tons in mind but here’s his list: Ne-Yo, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Mr. Probz, Adam Levine, Chris Brown, OMI, Fall Out Boy, U2’s Bono and Skrillex. Not a bad selection of artists, Carlow – I can relate!
And when I finally asked him if he was into Justin Bieber, he astutely and with much couth (in case it would hurt my feelings) responded “He’s cool but I’m not a big fan of Bieber” – no dramas, dude! I can relate to that too!
Stay cuffed to Y101 Always First and lay back with Carlow from 6PM-10PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and just hang – you won’t regret it!
