Shake Every Little Stitch

Tracks this week on Y101’s Stripped Down.

Stripped Down calms you down with acoustic strings every weekend. Last night we heard one of the chillest acoustic versions of an aleady chilled out acoustic rock song from Dishwalla. This time vocalist JR Richards takes the solo flight by strumming away his troubles with Every Little Thing.

The acoustic version features two acoustic guitars played by the Dishwalla lead singer and James Veck-Gilodi, the guitarist for the alternative rock band Deaf Havana. The version is flowing with pure acoustic groove and is featured in Richards’ solo acoustic album called Stripped.

Back in 2008, we were treated with a delectable pop rock song from scenesters Metro Station. Their catchy Shake It was all over the radio back in ’08. But last night we got treated to a high energy acoustic performance live in a studio. The acoustic Shake It was fun and lively, setting a perfect mood to balance the program.

And almost a year ago, we heard a 16 year old Canadian boy sing a heartbreaking pop song called Stitches. Shawn Mendes’ song went platinum all over the world. Earlier this year, YouTube cover artist Conor Maynard uploaded his stripped down cover of the song. With six million views, Maynard sings the song with more passion and pain in his voice. Featuring only a piano for accompaniment and his falsetto vocals, the song comes close to a stop after a rap verse by rapper Anth.

There are many cool urbanized sounds teeming around Stripped Down, so tune in next week for another set of acoustic jams.
