Azkals vs Aussies

The Philippine Azkals will get their ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup buildup today when they battle Australian League side Perth Glory at the Quirino Stadium in Bantay, Ilocos Sur.

Aris Caslib, the national team’s deputy coach has named the players to face the A-League side, an exciting mix of veterans and newcomers.

The squad will be headed by Misagh Bahadoran, who scored three goals in the World Cup Qualifying, alongside Phil Younghusband, who will be playing in his first Azkals match since October of last year.

The rest of the squad will be made up of Amani Aguinaldo, Simone Rota, Dennis Villanueva, James Younghusband, Jim Ashley Flores, Daniel Gadia, Balot Doctora, OJ Clarino, Miguel Tanton, Jerry Barbaso, Jinggoy Valmayor, and goalkeepers Nick O’Donnell and Jun Badelic.

Newcomers Valentin Calvo and Jaime Cheng will also be joining.

Dan Palami, the Azkals manager, says he wants the best possible squad to play in the AFF Suzuki Cup, and the match against Glory is a good opportunity to test the players, and widen the talent pool.
