The Tony Awards announced this year’s nominees who achieved excellence in Broadway theater, but Jennifer Hudson sadly didn’t make the cut.

Hudson, who has already an Oscar, Grammy, Golden Globe, and a BAFTA award, has been snubbed this year at the Tony’s for her electrifying performance in the Broadway musical The Color Purple.

She plays Shug Avery, a sexy singer who’s a larger than life character in the musical about the life of African-American women in the U.S. in the 1930’s.

When the Tony Awards announced this year’s nominees, Hudson’s name wasn’t mentioned despite being praised by critics for her performance.

The musical was nominated for four awards; Best Revival of a Musical, Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Cynthia Erivo, Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for Danielle Brooks, and Best Direction of a Musical for John Doyle.

Jennifer Hudson would have been nominated for the Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical, like how Elizabeth Withers-Mendez was nominated for the same role in 2008 in the original Broadway production.

She later tweeted her reaction to the snub a few hours after the announcement. She claimed she wasn’t used for her talent. She then deleted the tweet after a few hours.

Nobody is sure who she was referring to when she said she was “used” for her celebrity, not her talent. People speculate that it might be the producers of the musical who prominently used her on billboards and posters to advertise the show.

Hudson later posted on Instagram a collage picture of her cast mates. She congratulated her cast mates that got nominated and the entire crew for doing a good job.
