DJ receives 'death threats'

The English DJ played the set in Tunisia and has now deleted all his social media accounts.

An English DJ has reportedly been receiving death threats lately after playing a song that samples parts of the adhan, a Muslim call to prayer, during a gig in Tunisia.

The electronic artist, known as Dax J was playing at the Orbit Festival in the Muslim-majority African country of Tunisia. He played a song that incorporated a remix of the adhan, the sacred Islamic call to worship. You can watch the controversial set below.

The venue where it took place, the nightclub has since been closed by authorities. Mnaouer Ouertani, the governor of the town where the concert was held, said the club’s manager had been detained “for violation against good morals and public outrage against modesty”. He added: “We will not allow attacks against religious feelings and the sacred”.
