Kanye West and Instagram were made for each other.
The rapper - known for being a prolific outspoken tweeterer - suggested that he was considering joining the photo and video-based social network back in March, tweeting: "I was thinking about getting an Instagram but only on one condition... No one can ask me or try to tell me what to Instagram... It's my art... My tweets are a form of contemporary art only compromised by people trying to tell me what to tweet and not to tweet... Non artist trying to grab the paint brush".
Now, after months of consideration, Kanye West has joined Instagram.
The 39-year-old Ultra Light Beam rapper set up an account on the picture-sharing app on Sunday and has uploaded just one rather arty picture so far and gathered more than half a million followers in just a few hours. Here is his post:
Just earlier this week, West tweeted that he has gotten rid of his phone so he can focus on "creating".
Writing on Twitter on September 14, West said: "I got rid of my phone so I can have air to create". West was using Twitter on his desktop.
