Snubbed at This Year’s VMA

Beyoncé earned a career-best 11 nominations for her audio-visual masterpiece Lemonade, while last year’s big star Taylor Swift received zilch.

Last year might have been Taylor Swift’s best, but this year is definitely her worst. It has been a rough week or so for Taylor after her ex boyfriend Calvin HarrisTaylor Swifted” a song about her, and Kanye West and Kim Kardashian leaked a phone conversation exposing the singer’s lies.

However, it is possible that Swift isn’t eligible this year because she took home so many awards in 2015 and her album did come out in late 2014. Kanye West, on the other hand, receives two nods including one for Video of the Year (for the infamous ‘Famous’ video).

Beyonce leads the pack with 11 nominations including one for Video of the Year as well (for the video to Formation). Adele comes in second place with 8 nods that also include Video of the Year for Hello and Best Visual Effects for Send My Love (To Your New Lover).

Artists that are rarely associated with the VMA’s like Tame Impala, FKA Twigs, and the late David Bowie received nominations as well. The 19 year old rapper Desiigner, Joe Jonas’ new pop band DNCE, Denmark’s Lukas Graham, Sweden’s Zara Larsson and U.S. of A’s Bryson Tiller were nominated for this year’s Best New Artist.

All these musicians will all have a chance to win a VMA this year except Taylor Swift, who can just stay at home dusting off her awards from last year. Or even better!, if Kanye wins Video of the Year for Famous, Taylor can go up the stage and insist that Beyonce had the best music video of all time. Please let that happen!
