Last Saturday night while checking out Rock Ed Cebu, I had the chance to listen and see Radioactive Sago Project after hearing their music for quite some time now.
With a jam packed venue at Handuraw Gorordo I was able to enjoy some good local music after the previous venue (Outpost) closed a few months back. I was intrigued by the bands lead vocals Lourd Ernest Hanopol de Veyra (born February 11, 1975) who happens to be a multi-awarded Filipino musician, emcee, poet, journalist, broadcast personality and activist who first became famous for being the vocalist of Manila-based jazz rock band Radioactive Sago Project.

He has also published three books of poetry: Subterranean Thought Parade, Shadowboxing in Headphones and Insectissimo and “This is a Crazy Planets” is a collection of essays from his Spot.ph blog. SuperPanalo Sounds! was his first novel

When the hardcore punk band Dead Ends ended their 4-year hiatus, he became the one of the band's guitarists in 1994, sharing guitar chores with the band's leader and founder Al Dimalanta, thus making Dead Ends a four-piece band. Then, they recorded their comeback and final album, the influential Mamatay sa Ingay (1995), it was a different sound than their past materials, it was more of a crossover-thrash approach. Dead Ends disbanded in 1996 (because of Jay Dimalanta's passing). After which, Lourd de Veyra briefly became a member of Al Dimalanta's new band Throw (band), with his brother Francis playing the bass. Lourd de Veyra is the nephew of singer/guitarist Mike Hanopol.

A little more about his band Radioactive Sago Project, considered as a Filipino jazz rock band formed in 1999 in Quezon CityMetro Manila, Philippines. The band's sound is a fusion of spoken-word poetry, bebop jazz, and punk. Their main topics are mostly politics, alcoholism, drugs, and any other issues today. The band has released three albums. The first is the self-titled album Radioactive Sago Project released in 2000, followed by Urban Gulaman in 2004 and Tangina Mo Andaming Nagugutom sa Mundo Fashionista Ka Pa Rin, released in 2007.
