It’s always a treat for rockers to listen to Bootleg Gold every Friday but it’s a luxury to indulge in those astoundingly wild live tracks that are only heard once a month!
And today, being the last Friday of November, Bootleg Gold does brings you that Fat Boy Harley once again when you park yourselves at your front row seats to hear your favorite headbanging concerts on that special experience – Live Sessions!
Marko and I have compiled some incredible live ones kicking it off with Aerosmith’s Come Together as we actually do come together to celebrate Thanksgiving. Plus here in the islands, we not only get that Thursday fête but that bonus holiday as well on Monday for a double-whammo long weekend commemorating one of Philippine’s national heroes, Andres Bonifacio.
Perhaps the most sought after Bootleg feature of the month due to ultimate performances from some of the most amazing vocals, this evening’s phenomenon pigeonholed by iconic bands like The Who, Deep Purple, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, U2 and many more, with their electric guitars, basses and drums has to be the most on demand gig here at Y101.
Our highlights this evening include Jimi Hendrix wailing his 1967 track Purple Haze at the Monterrey Pop Festival. Another highpoint is The Police’s kickass version of Walking On The Moon from the 1984 Synchronicity Tour.
My personal favorite though for the 90s set tonight is The Foo Fighters’ track Hero as it propels Dave Grohl’s unbelievably breathtaking voice that leaves me in a trance! Taken out of the concert held at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood, California in 2006, this seamlessly perfect performance on tonight’s show is genuinely hedonistic!
And to put the icing on the cake, we will be crashing Live Sessions with a special request from a special listener – it’s going to be Fleetwood Mac tonight but this is when I merely have to seal my lips for the grand finale surprise!
