bootleg-gold-christmas-special

Tonight on Bootleg Gold, we’ll be rocking around the Christmas tree with the entire Rhythm Crew.

Putting a spin on tradition, it’s going to be the all-inclusive, all-embracing, across-the-board Y101 team greeting you a Merry Christmas tonight as we celebrate the most joyful day of the year with an extra thump! As you already know, we switched the Featured Artists episode to this evening with an eye to bring you a Santa special when we present a powerful Christmas show with rockin’ holiday tracks from our epic pinups.

So do look ahead to Jiggy, Chad, John M, Carlow, V, Icky, Mike Solo and the rest of your favorite Rhythm jocks wire up with Marko and myself, Martha T tonight right here on Bootleg Gold as we all bring you some of the choicest rock jingles ever! You’ll also be listening to our silent staff behind the scene to wish you a happy holiday season.

And what tracks to expect?

Well, I’m sure you have an inkling of which yuletide melodies we’ll be throwing your way, but here are our top 5 musts –
Paul McCartney’s cheerful Wonderful Christmas Time which spotlights the elation of the festivities;
• The Pretenders’ touching and snow-cozy Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas;
The Kinks badass cult classic Father Christmas which in point of fact, is about street children wanting to beat up Santa;
Queen’s dramatic Thank God It’s Christmas delivered by Freddie Mercury with much charisma;
• And of course, the ultimate Christmas flag of them all, John Lennon’s Happy Xmas (War Is Over) with Yoko Ono which was a protest song about the Vietnam War. Produced by Phil Spector, this holiday staple features children from the Harlem Community Choir and was based on the 1969 John and Yoko billboard campaign posing the double-edged political question “what have you done?”, a passionate message of peace, typically performed by the couple.

On a different note, my special greeting to our loyal Y101 fans will be December by Collective Soul because, apart from it being one of my choice picks, I’m specially shooting it out to our Bootleggers, with all my rocking love and furor to commemorate the entire holiday season!

Lastly, don’t miss on our crash track – it’s going to be from Stevie Nicks: surprise, surprise!

Spend this evening with us on Y101 Always First, and hear the last session of Bootleg Gold 2015 at 6PM when Marko and I, Martha T bring you the only rock experience…

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! And, we’ll be with ya again same time next week – next year when we open the rockin’ New Year with another super special!

Get the habit!
