Last Sunday night on the Sunset Cruise, we were treated with cool EDM tracks from talented DJ’s from coast to coast around the world. One awesome track was from the Parisian duo Du Tonc. Every Song is an easygoing track perfect for the summertime. A track so good that it gets you loosened up. Du Tonc has always said that they create music to show aliens. With a track like Every Song, a universal unity would arise as our alien visitors chill out to the sounds of our summer.
One of my favorite female electropop musicians is Little Boots. Her song Better in the Morning found its way aboard the Sunset Cruise last Sunday. The closing track from her latest album Working Girl, Morning, was also a nice fit for a good cruise unwinding. Little Boots had us bouncing to a sing-song melody. A fun little track that talks about talking yourself out of feeling defeated at the end of the day. A song that took our troubles away.
A track from the chill-house lounge last Sunday called Praise The Sun by Sounds of Summer sampled heavily the 2011 deep house nu-jazz track Sonnentanz by the duo Klangkarussell. Sonnentanz means “sun dance” in German. The guys from Sounds of Summer remixed the track adding a bossa nova lounge kind of feel to the track. A really cool fit for summer where the sun shines the brightest.
On the Sunset Cruise, the summer sun becomes your friend and the moon becomes the warm blanket to wrap you around at night. Summer is fun when good music is around, and good music is always around on the Sunset Cruise.
