When Jiggy Junior kicks it off to the reminiscing ride and you hear The Cure crooning Friday I’m In Love, you know it’s the best day of the week at Y101’s FGR! It’s not because TGIF – it’s cos of those golds that we so miss, those stamped on our memory banks from the 80s, 90s and 2000s that have been shelved in the attic.

Rushing with the ingots is one of those things I love doing most, especially when I see the 90s tracks all cued up to be aired. Dishwalla’s Counting Blue Cars has to be one of my tops in that list and when I see Chad the Stud for example, gearing up to adlib the song, I get all keyed up waiting for my endorphins to react! Anything from Sinead O’Connor’s Nothing Compares 2 U to OasisWonderwall or Sheryl Crow’s All I Wanna Do to Sublime’s Santeria is what you’d hear on the Midday Drive from this stud, and guess what? I can’t help but fall in love with his Friday!

Yet another bigwig on this fine day is John M as his music set puts a spell on me – I really enjoy listening to his mesmerizing tracks that totally sweep me off my feet! He’s a classic man with classy taste and that’s why I’m so into his golds on Friday afternoons. His artist of choice: Sade; and of course with it comes Kiss Of Life because he knows I’m listening in (which, guilty as charged, I often dictate his playlist!)… A mix of tunes from the 80s and 90s is what Big Kahuna likes playing around with, as he segues the diverse beats from the different decades without a glitch and suavely throws in those requests his fans clamor for during his slot. A Smooth Operator indeed, as Sade would chant!

A flawless Friday on Y101 Always First as you revel in those favorites from 8 AM – 6 PM. Stay with us all day to de-stress from that long week and start your weekend right with Friday Gold Rush.

Just be there!
