N.W.A., Chicago, Cheap Trick, and Deep Purple have been chosen to be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation was established in 1983 by leaders of the music industry. Its function is to recognize the contribution of those who have had a significant impact on the evolution, development and perpetuation of rock and roll. These artists are recognized by inducting them into the prestigious honor of being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

To be eligible for the induction, an artist must of course have impacted rock and roll based on the votes by music historians, members of the music industry and more than 600 musicians. The artist is only eligible after 25 years of their first record release.

In 8 April 2016, the new batch of rock and roll artists will be inducted. The ceremony will be held in New York and will be broadcast by HBO.

Hip-Hop legends N.W.A. will be inducted next year and will become one of the handful hip-hop artists to be included in the Rock and Roll Hall Fame joining Public Enemy, Run-DMC, and Beastie Boys.

The progressive rock band Deep Purple will also be inducted alongside Chicago, Cheap Trick and Steve Miller of the Steve Miller Band.

Hard-bop jazz saxophonist  will also be part of the 2016 batch joining Etta James, Ray Charles and Miles Davis as one of the few jazz musicians to be included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
