Check out the cast for Nicki Minaj’s comedy series

The airdate for Nicki Minaj’s series Nicki hasn’t been announced yet, but the cast list has been dropped and it will guest star EGOT-awards winning actress Whoopi Goldberg.

Minaj, who is the executive producer of the show, said the series will focus on her childhood in Queens, New York. The inimitable Whoopi will star as Nicki Minaj’s neighbor, Miss Martha, a character who isn’t afraid to speak her mind.

The rapper revealed the cast on her Instagram where she proudly said she hand-picked them herself.

“I am honored and excited to announce that I've literally hand picked the main characters of my scripted series”. She continued “I've been going to the auditions falling in love with some incredible people.”

Minaj also revealed that the child actress Ariana Neal will star as the young Nicki. Neal, who has worked in movies as Get Hard, and Fruitvale Station made Minaj emotional after seeing her audition tape.

"I literally cried watching her taped audition. I demanded to meet her," She wrote.

The series will air on ABC and will also star Selita Ebanks (Real Husbands of Hollywood) and Wesley Jonathan (The Soul Man) who will play Minaj’s parents.
