The lineup of possible winners is shaping to be one of the best matchups as the biggest players of the year congregate among the top slots of the countdown for the year-end.
But, hello? One need not be a genius to figure out that Adele will do a twin-win at the very least, if not a long term incumbency at Number 1! The eminence of her ballad Hello is absolutely merited and even if One Direction had a good two week run with Perfect up top, usually the line moves the moment a big-name player suddenly enters the countdown, and this fine lady who we all know will certainly skedaddle the alp.
When Adele placed at Number 2 a couple of weeks back, it was a sure shot she’d make it to Numero Uno the following week and a well-deserved Numero Uno it is! After having taken a sabbatical from the music industry for years and undergone writer’s block, she was inspired to write and record her third studio album 25 by her motherhood and Madonna’s 1998 album Ray of Light. A great comeback, a much anticipated album from critics and fans and a successful breakthrough led to the epitome of this phenomenal piano ballad co-written with her producer Greg Kurstin.
The doo-wop pop track Love Me Like You by the British girl band Little Mix which soared six slots two weeks ago and up to Number 2 last week may have a bit of a struggle in acquiring the reign with Ariana Grande’s Focus tailing at Number 3 in the WT20 countdown. I’m pretty sure Grande will overshoot them with this very beguiling track so keep an eye on this one!
Hey Everybody by 5 Seconds Of Summer plunged down to Number 9 after having been a non-mover, and to cover Number 4 we now have Perfect which is slowly declining after its two week victory at Number 1.
Number 5 presents a soon-to-be possible winner as well – Rudimental Featuring Ed Sheeran up 5 spots, shines with an exquisite song Lay It All On Me.
