If  you’re in search of authentic Japanese cuisine in Cebu, now this you gotta try – YUMEYA KIHEI Japanese Restaurant in Pacific Square, F. Cabahug Street in Mabolo, they not only dish out real Japanese food, but also gives you the ultimate Japanese dining culture experience with every visit.

Last week, I was one of the lucky few who got the chance to dine at the most coveted Japanese Restaurant in town, a sister restaurant of the more popular Ofoku San located in Gaisano Countrymall in Banilad, Yumeya Kihei never failed to give what my taste buds deserve. I have been a fan of the Japanese Cuisine since I was small, I have been to all the other Japanese restaurants in town, but this one is as real as it claims. The seafood meat is fresh (even keen observers cannot dispute its freshness), recipes are super original – it’s the reason you find yourself going back, again and again, and they have rooms available where you feel like you really are in Japan.

Greeted by waitresses dressed like Geishas , welcoming you in Japanese as if it’s their native language, you immediately take note of the difference with other Japanese restaurants.

Fresh Off the Menu

  • BEEF KATSU
  • SASHIMI PLATTER
  • CODFISH
  • SAKE
  • ABEKAWA MOCHI – STICKY CAKE
  • FRESH FRUITS PLATTER featuring the famous Chinese Peach
  • RICE WINE

And of course don’t forget the fresh original garden salad that comes along each main course order, it was heaven in my mouth and not to mention, it’s an original Yumeya Kihei recipe. It was the first time I was introduced to Sea Urchin – RAW at that, it looked super gooey and eeeky, but once in your mouth, you can only think of the taste that leaves you wanting for more. I’m a huge fan of Salmon Sashimi, so as soon as the plate landed on our table, I had to be selfish and gather all salmon sashimi I can find from the assorted bunch. If you were me, you would do the same thing – be selfish! Why? You don’t get an everyday chance at good food. The beef and cod fish cooked perfectly leaving its entire original flavor for you to enjoy – and trust me, it’s no fast food.

I just can’t blabber on how good it is, you have got to try it for yourself.

Special thanks to Shotaro Suda for the super warm welcome and for enlightening us on how Japanese food should taste like and be served. Now that’s a two-thumbs up experience!
