Cyndi Lauper, the 66 year old singer behind the “Girls just want to have fun” and True colors”, got stung by a bee last Friday, July 12, the first of a two night concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
According to those at the concert and a video posted by a fan, Lauper had taken off her boots by the time she sang “She Bop”. While playing the recorder, she stepped on a bee with her barefoot and momentarily got flustered but she kept on singing as she sat on the ground to take out the stinger.
Despite being in obvious pain, Lauper cracked some jokes and asked for some flip flops, but powered through the show.
Lauper, in a state of discomfort, left the stage but quickly returned for a two-song encore, singing A Part Hate accompanied by children from the Country School Choir, and the final track of the night, True Colors.
In the span of her career, Lauper has sold over 70 million albums, singles and DVD’s worldwide.
Fans at the show took to social media to marvel at Lauper’s onstage gumption.
Ladies and gentlemen, during her performance tonight the great Cyndi Lauper:
