Angelina Jolie is back as the Mistress of All Evil in Disney’s Maleficent sequel, Mistress of Evil. Maleficent’s motherly instincts are challenged by a new queen—played by Michelle Pfeiffer.

In this follow-up to Disney’s take on Sleeping Beauty,Jolie reprises her role as the titular dark fairy who was hurt and scorned by the human world—and had her heart broken by King Stefan. Her hatred led her to curse his daughter, Princess Aurora , portrayed by Elle Fanning, but Maleficent eventually grew to love and adore the princess and became her guardian.

The sequel starts with Aurora getting engaged to Prince Phillip (played by Harris Dickinson) and Maleficent is not happy about it and tells Aurora “Love does not always end well”.

Maleficent confronts Queen Ingrith (Pfeiffer) who is poised to take Maleficent’s place as a “proper mother figure.” Not only does this threaten Maleficent’s place in Aurora’s life, but it also hints at the queen’s much-darker agenda regarding the moors and its magical creatures.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is set to come out in worldwide theaters on October 18.
