Lil Nas X, the “Old Town Road” singer, came out as gay on the last day of Pride Month – June. The hitmaker took to social media to highlight lyrics from his song “c7osure”, as well as the album art cover for his recent 7 EP, which includes a rainbow building against the skyline. He has recently revealed more details about his coming out publicly.
Lil Nas X has said that he hoped his coming out would open doors for others and that they would feel more comfortable. He noted that with the hiphop and and country music community, LGBTQ acceptance does not have along standing positive record.

He added that he is already dealing with with anti-gay backlash online and has taken to wit and humor to deal with his haters.
Fellow artists such as Cardi B and Laverne Cox have expressed their support for his coming out.
