TAY SCOOTER

Music industry superstars are standing strong with Taylor Swift after manager Scooter Braun acquired her music catalogue, which has left the singer-songwriter devastated.

On Sunday, the Big Machine Label Group announced that it had been acquired by music mega-manager Scooter Braun and his company Ithaca Holdings. Braun currently works with Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, among numerous other entertainers, and in the past has worked with Kanye West. Swift — whose master recordings of her past six albums are all owned by Big Machine — was outraged.

Swift began her career as a musician at Big Machine Label when she was 15, releasing her first self-titled album and was with the label until last year when she switched to Universal Music Group’s Republic Record in a highly publicized deal. Everyone involved presented the move as a cordial business decision with no hard feelings involved — until this week, when Swift wrote her Tumblr post criticizing both Borchetta and Braun as manipulators.

This has caused massive outpouring of support for Taylor, as even former frenemy, Katy Perry signed the Change.org petition.

Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Camila Cabello, Selena Gomez, Adele, and Gwen Stefani have all have reportedly unfollowed Scooter on social media after his acquisition of Taylor’s life’s work. Even his own client Ariana Grande has reportedly deleted her Instagram story congratulating Scooter on the purchase.
