Yesterday, June 13, 2019, Taylor Swift went to Instagram to announce her new single, You Need to Calm Down, which has just been released TODAY, and its corresponding music video, which will reportedly debut on Monday, June 17, on the American morning talk show Good Morning America. In her Instagram Live video, she also announced the title of her seventh and upcoming album, Lover.

Swift describes the album as “very romantic” but also hints at darker themes like loneliness and sadness in her new music. Her latest hit ME! serves as a mere teaser for the upcoming 18-track album, with a music video filled with Easter eggs, opening with a snake—the allegory from her previous album, reputation—slithering through a brick road until eventually erupting into a flock of butterflies. This could be interpreted as Swift’s return to her original motif before exploring darker themes in reputation. Many of the Easter eggs in the video, which I won’t detail in this article but of which you can find a list here, also evoke nostalgic images, strengthening the aforementioned assumption that Swift is revisiting her former, brighter, more innocent artistic persona pre-Look What You Made Me Do.

Lover will reportedly be released later this year, on August 23, or 8/23, which if you add all the digits (8+2+3) will equal 13, popularly known to be Swift’s favorite number. But while waiting for the album to be released, you can check out her latest single, fresh out of the musical over, below.
