Since 1937, Walt Disney Animation Studio has consistently released films that would become popular with kids and adults of different generations. Their latest film, which is also their 57th overall, is “Ralph Breaks the Internet”. The computer animated film, which tells the story of video game characters Ralph and Vanellope discovering a wifi router that leads them into a new adventure, is currently this week’s box office number one hit.

Following the “Wreck-It-Ralph” sequel at the box office is Universal and Illumination’s computer animated retelling of ‘The Grinch”, the popular Dr. Seuss character who hates Christmas. It is the third screen adaptation of the classic story, following the TV special from 1966 and the live-action Jim Carrey movie from 2000. In this new “Grinch” film, the Grinch is voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch and is narrated by Pharrell Williams. The 86 minute-movie currently raked in $268.3 million from its $75 million budget.

Tailing behind the aforementioned Christmas film is “Creed II”, the sports drama film that is a direct sequel to 2015’s “Creed” and the 18th installment in the “Rocky” film series. The film, which stars Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone, made only $92.6 million from its $50 million budget even after entering the box office charts for a second week.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” sits behind fourth place at the box office. It is the 10th movie in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World franchise which started with the Harry Potter films last decade. Following its place at the box office is “Bohemian Rhapsody” which made an extra $8.1 million this weekend.

You can watch all these movies and more in the local theaters like in SM Cinema Cebu, Ayala Malls Cinema, and Robinsons Movieworld Cebu.
