25-year old Daisy Ridley will return to the big screen this December when Star Wars: The Last Jedi will premiere. Ridley plays the role of Rey, the Force prodigy who will bring new hope to a galaxy on the brink of war.
In a recent interview with the Radio Times, Ridley revealed that she quit Instagram and other social media sites because she feels it’s “highly unhealthy for people’s mental health”, especially for teenagers.
Ridley received criticism last year when she shared a post about victims of gun violence on social media. That backlash made her quit Instagram and Twitter. Addressing that incident, Ridley told the Radio Times “It’s such a weird thing for young people to look at distorted images of things they should be.”
That’s also the reason why she left social media, saying "The more I read about teenage anxiety, the more I think [social media] is highly unhealthy for people's mental health."
