49 Celebrities Honor 49 Victims

Lady Gaga, Chris Pine, Sofia Vergara, Caitlyn Jenner are among the others who appeared in a video honoring the 49 people who lost their lives in the Orlando massacre earlier this month.

On June 12, 2016, a gunman killed 49 people and injured 53 others inside Pulse, an LGBTQ nightclub in Orlando, Florida. It was both the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman and the deadliest incident of violence against LGBTQ people in U.S. history” , the 18-minute video starts with this prologue.

Lady Gaga then kicks off the list of those who perished in the massacre by offering details about the slain 27-year-old Jean Carlos Nieves Rodriguez, the manager of a cheque-cashing store.

Another celebrity picks up the video and introduces another victim. A star for each person killed. The video also features Jane Fonda, Lea Michele, Sofia Vergara, Chaz Bono, Evan Rachel Wood, Cuba Gooding Jr, and Demi Lovato.

The celebrities joined forces to lead a new Human Rights Campaign public service announcement masterminded by writer/director Ryan Murphy, creator of Glee, Scream Queens, and American Horror Story.
