ABBA Singer Deports Ex-Boyfriend for Stalking

ABBA singer Agnetha Fältskog began a relationship with a Dutch man who was obsessed with her. When the relationship ended, he began to stalk her.

In 2000, the then 50-year old ABBA singer Agnetha issued a restraining order barring his ex-boyfriend, Gert van der Graaf, a Dutch factory worker, from seeing or talking to her. When van der Graaf violated the order and followed Agnetha in Sweden three years later, the ABBA singer called the cops to arrest and deport his stalker.

Van der Graaf was Agnetha’s boyfriend from 1997 to 1999. The relationship came after Agnetha’s recent divorce with Swedish surgeon Tomas Sonnenfeld in 1993. Agnetha claimed in recent years that her relationship with van der Graaf was merely a “friendship”. After Fältskog decided to terminate their friendship, van der Graaf stalked her at her mansion in Sweden, which resulted in the stalker’s deportation from the country. His ban from the country ended in 2005, and within months after the order expired, van der Graaf was again sighted near Agnetha’s estate in Ekero.

In 2013, it was rumored that writer Dennis Magnusson wrote a play called The Star and the Beast inspired by van der Graaf’s obsession with the ABBA singer and the brief relationship they had. The writer explained, - “I was very affected by the story, I found it incredibly interesting from many points of view. There was something deeply human in it as I was very curious, “

Unfortunately, the play hasn’t shed light yet since no updates have been made.
