Tomorrow will mark the end of Ramadan and our Muslim friends in Cebu will celebrate with a feast!

Eid al-Fitr is one of the holiest and joyous days for the Muslim world. The celebration of the Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan or the Islamic holy month of fasting.

As a special day, tomorrow’s observance of Eid al-Fitr was declared a national holiday by the government. Muslims would wake up as early as 4 a.m. to prepare for the celebration. Everyone would wear their best dress and attend the congregational prayer and sermon at the nearest mosque.

Some groups of Muslims would also troop to Plaza Independencia to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. The day is not only to mark the end of fasting observed by Muslims all over the world, but also a time for family reunions and renewal of faith.

In remembrance, Muslims around the world would also slaughter sheep and other livestock , and they would even share some meat to the poor.
