It’s that day of the week when Y101’s up-to-the minute president Mike Solo, gets with it and brings us the Weekly Top 20 countdown again! Put those seat belts on because this week, we’re anticipating some real exciting changes from unforeseen tracks speeding up the highway to Number 1!
But before jabbering on about what’s hot in the charts, I wanted to articulate that it’s high time Justin Bieber’s song What Do You Mean doesn’t make it to the top for a four-peat and instead drops down to Number 3. This track is so overkill, it’s beginning to get on my nerves! And replacing it last week with a huge comeback was Tove Lo’s Time Bomb which quite frankly, I predicted would soar quickly with all the positive reviews it has been receiving. As forecasted, it would reach the apogee soon and sooner than expected it did! What’s in question now is if she’ll make it to the top once more this week.
What I didn’t anticipate was for Ship To Wreck by Florence + The Machines to sojourn at Number 2 and why I say this is because when a track dwells at second best, chances are that it’ll head down south the week after. Florence Welch created a brilliant work of art in this unbelievably awesome indie rock song which is a rare find nowadays and it’s truly an upset to know that it’s not going to peak.
At Number 4, we have Elle King with Ex’s & Oh’s up a notch from the previous week with the alternative, blues and country rock phenomenon she whipped up that is making a smash! It’s definitely unique and don’t be surprised if it jumps up to Number 1 with no holds barred!
Another whizz that is more than captivating is How Deep Is Your Love by Captain Harris Featuring The Disciples – this one’s a sure winner, so watch how it goes on overdrive this week as our listeners vote it in!
