Amazingly, Justin Bieber handed over the privileged spot to Twenty One Pilots on Dees' countdown when Love Yourself conceded defeat to Stressed Out...

Bieber enjoyed a short-lived climax! Love Yourself got hammered by the alternative hip hop stallion Stressed Out with one simple kick in the teeth. The rap rock track was written by Tyler Joseph, one of the members of the Twenty One Pilots duo. It is a single released on April 28,2015 out of their fourth studio album Blurryface, which lyrics relay the abrasive transition from adolescence to adulthood.

Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 has taken a relatively significant spin from the 2015 pop pikes to the new-fangled zeniths that 2016 are starting to bring in – thank God! We're hearing more hip hop, R&B, rap and even rock in the apogees and a good deal less of that assembly-line commercial kinda pop formula which is a totally industrialized method of harmonizing music with absolutely no melody, making each and every one of these songs actually sound the same!

A perfect example of this would be Justin Bieber's Love Yourself now at Number 2, which (except for his Beliebers who are all strung out about this track) is a complete mimic of his previous singles from his album Purpose. If you were to ask me, I see no difference between his track Sorry, his song What Do You Mean and Love Yourself. I totally feel that all reached Number 1 with no basis whatsoever except for the publicity stunts which have given him the stripes!

The Weeknd has finally made a move to Number 3 with his synthpop single In The Night released on November 17, 2015. Although the song is widely compared to Michael Jackson's style, I'd give it an A+ for originality and sophistication! I think this track rocks and deserves to have already reached Number 1 ages ago!

Other than this gen, everything seems to be shuffling on a steady pace – Alessia Cara has now declined to Number 4 with her song Here while The Chainsmokers Featuring Rozes' Roses has stepped up a notch to Number 5 from last week's results. Selena Gomez, Adele and Meghan Trainor Featuring John Legend are all out of the top five list while slowly tiptoeing in are Daya with Hideaway, and Flo Rida with My House among the top ten.

Like I said on my last article for the Rick Dees countdown, it's looking like the monkey has finally brought us some of those magnificent grass roots reintroducing the old-school jungle scene through drum and bass and breakbeats, reincarnating soul, rap and many more genres to meld into the very unrelenting pop tracks, presenting us with an interesting potpourri of songs this year.
