Last week, on Rick Dees Weekly Top 40, we didn’t see a change of guard when Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams sustained her reign at Number 1. Nothing astonishing from this American pop princess whose aspirations are beyond a shadow of doubt, becoming more visible as she continues to soar in her career.

As I mentioned last week, Tay could remain at Number 1 and at Number 1 she dwelled! The question is: will she hang in there for a triple-shot? Dominating headlines worldwide, whether it be about her break-ups, marriage plans or whatevers, she’s a market leader on her own! And as she tours diverse countries to promote her fifth album1989, all odds point to her for a third win on Rick’s countdown.

I reckon that this 25-year-old performer will hit her goalmouth to be the highest earning female celebrity in 2016, overtaking Katy Perry – perhaps, a biased opinion but yes, I think she’s a kickass businesswoman dressed as a pop star, a one-off entertainer and one hella sweet idol most girls look up to! That being said, I vote Swifty in for Number 1 again this week…

At Number 2 for an uninterrupted four week drive now, The Weeknd’s The Hills seems to be wedged at silver-medalist and doesn’t look like it will fly to that desired Numero Uno after all. Quite a pity because a track with such commercial success hitting Number 1 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart, replacing its own titleholder’s track should hit the apogee.

Up two notches from Number 5, Canadian singer Shawn Mendes places at Number 3 with the explosive pop track Stitches from his debut album Handwritten. I really think it has the sine qua non to make it to Number 1 on Dees’ countdown, although he’s still unripe in the industry – but who’s to say what’s happening next, right? I just so love this powerhouse!

And at Number 4 and Number 6 respectively, we have Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean and R City Featuring Adam Levine’s Locked Away, both declining after having boasted of being the unsurpassed.

Now here’s a song that’s looking good at Number 5: One Direction’s Drag Me Down from their fifth album Made In The A.M. released last July 31, 2015. The mid-tempo punch became an instant triumph burning some rubber in charts around the globe. In the United States, it debuted at Number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Also hot to trot are Drake’s Hotline Blink at Number 7, X AmbassadorsRenegades at Number 8 and at Number 10 – this one’s my pick of the week: Ellie Goulding’s On My Mind.
