Taylor Swift conquers the plinth once again and there’s no sign of her giving up her tiara anytime soon!

Tay’s fifth single Wildest Dreams from her studio album 1989 released last August 31 doesn’t look like it’s planning on giving up its sovereignty, as it continues to hang at the governing dais on Rick Dees Weekly Top 40. It’s been almost 4 weeks since Swift’s ballad with a prominent dream pop influence stepped up to the podium and it seems to feel quite comfy on stage!

Swifty’s desire for her lover to remember her has apparently touched the world as it prevails at Number 1. A powerful track prancing a moderate tempo at 69 BPMs, it takes one aback with its captivating tune and meaningful words. Swift co-wrote this powerhouse with producers, Max Martin and Shellback – definitely one hella commanding track from one hella influential women!

I say it’s going to be a well-deserved superfecta – what do you reckon?

Canadian singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes took one step up the ladder to make it to runner-up on the countdown this week with the blistering pop track Stitches from his debut album Handwritten. Mendes was discovered through his cover videos posted on the app Vine by a recording company when millions of viewers followed his six-second renditions of popular songs. His musical influences – John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars. With this being said, we know how this puppy’s going to soar!

So it’s going to be Swift vs. Mendes on the ring today, I’m guessing!

Also on a roll is Hotline Blink, the R&B track from Canadian rapper Drake which is up 3 spots from Number 7, sitting in a comfortable position at Number 4 with the potential to continue making it up the chart. Reaching Number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, it received praises from critics and is well on its way to stardom!

Moving down a slot to Number 3, The Weeknd’s The Hills only stayed as that silver-medalist on Dees’ chart as it slowly heads southbound. Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean too, is down 1 spot to Number 5 as it gradually makes his way out of the top loci of the countdown.

Coming in pretty strong at Number 6 is Ellie Goulding’s On My Mind and at Number 8, X AmbassadorsRenegade was a non-mover last week as One Direction’s Drag Me Down did not carry on to the finish line and instead moved down to Number 7.
