A long awaited charade is about to unfold in today’s countdown!
Last week,Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 pitched us a curveball when it sidetracked from its traditional countdown to all Number 1 hits in no specific sequence. I talked about it as being a cliffhanger because it left us with a brain-twisting enigma of whether Taylor Swift would outdo herself another time after having aced the chart for 4 consecutive weeks or would another leading light put the lid on her.
I personally think Tay’sWildest Dreams has had enough glare of publicity so it’s high time someone else gets the wreath, and after listening to Rick Dees Number 1s, it’s a dead giveaway that Adele’s Hello will make it to Number 1. The question is when, although it’s almost a sure shot it’ll be today.
Shawn Mendes’ Stitches which placed at Number 2 a couple of weeks ago looks very unclear as a frontrunner at this time. Although I was rooting for this happy teen pop melody to make it to the pinnacle, there are too many contingents racing for that preferred spot.
For example, at Number 3 we had Drake’s Hotline Bling dogging the leaderboard and at Number 5, Ellie Goulding’s electropop R&B track On My Mind sniffing around for a bone! What’s more, we had Adele’s hounding track Hello on the heels of all these spine-chillers at Number 7, which has such impeccable reviews and an incredibly bizarre following, it can leap up to Number 1 at the blink of an eye!
