Alessia Cara conquers the whole enchilada with her sleeper hit Here steering the Dees' chart this week!

Slowly but surely, Canadian singer Cara made her way up to make a home run with her sleeping giant at the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40. Her R&B track, which was released nine months ago prior to her Extended Play Four Pink Walls and her debut album Know-It-All, only gained popularity in August when it first debuted the US Billboard Hot 100 at Number 95. In spite of its delayed upshot, it has charted in many countries including the United Kingdom and Australia.

The upside of the single is its beat that swerves from the conventional everyday pop. It samples the 1995 trip hop track Glory Box by the English group Portishead which in turn samples Ike's Rap II by Isaac Hayes which also samples the bassline of Wallace Collection's Daydream and its recurring rhythm comes from the 1960s TV series The Adventures Of Robinson Crusoe. Although quite unique in nature, there have been mixed reviews on this alp because of its negative lyrics – either you love it or you hate it! Regardless, it's making a statement as it continues to climb up the 100s for 25 weeks now as it sits at Number 5 this week. Way to go from being a dark horse at Number 95!

At Number 2, we have Selena Gomez's Same Old Love graciously exiting her short-lived sovereignty which quite boggled me because even if I considered it a hunky-dory torch track, I would have thought that this bombastic erotic lady would have won a few more votes from her suggestive erogenous videos! On a personal note, of course the video was well received – if half the populace of critics are men, the libidinal gratification of her body would blind their professional opinion! The song is nowhere near dope, so I can see why it didn't stay up top!

As for the juvenile Justin Bieber and his two goliaths, here's an intriguing curve: Skyrocketing up to Number 3 this week, we have Love Yourself almost as if it's switching loci with Sorry which now has plummeted down 6 slots to Number 8. A strange scenario, given that last week we had Sorry at Number 2 and usually, it would have retreated unhurriedly down the countdown. Could it be that it's a major toss-up between the two giants, being that they're positioned at Numbers 1 and 2 at the Billboard Hot 100s? So what this is looking like is that Bieber's going to make it to the pinnacle again real soon!

In the interim, Adele's chartbusting Hello continues at Number 4 although it's methodically retiring from the limelight as well, after having topped the countdown for endless weeks. It is obviously giving way for her upcoming mammoth When We Were Young now at Number 15 as it spiraled up 5 places this week.

Meghan Trainor Featuring John Legend's Like I'm Gonna Lose You has lost its steam at Number 5 allowing The Weeknd to take its place with In The Night – another tradeoff beneficial to the Canadian singer of the swinging ode as it leisurely climbs the charts. A great "feel-good" track with an appealing thumping bass that stirs up your endorphins, my opinion's that this one's a winner just like his previous colossus The Hills...

Ellie Goulding's On My Mind continues its descent at Number 10, while lingering in their same slots are Drake's Hotline Blink at Number 9 and Taylor Swift's Wildest Dreams at Number 11. Twenty One Pilots has picked up significantly as it places at Number 7 with Stressed Out while The Chainsmokers Featuring Rozes is up a slot with Roses at Number 9.
