Another week gone by, another Open Season Special on Bootleg Gold to look forward to here at Y101 Always First. Only this time, we’re featuring tracks from one of the top five female rock vocalists Stevie Nicks celebrating with her in spirit her 63rd birthday.

Incidentally, let’s start this by saying that today’s the 26th in the United States hence it’s the official day of fête.

Born in Phoenix, Arizona on May 26, 1948, America was blessed with perhaps the finest rock singer-songwriter in history, Stephanie Lynn “Stevie” Nicks. The legend was best known for having been the frontrunner of Fleetwood Mac which she joined in 1974. Famed for their album Rumours after having produced four top 10 singles including Nick’s Dreams which was the band’s first US number one hit and remained at No. 1 on the American albums charts for 31 weeks, Nicks can boast of being a part of the making of the “ninth highest selling album of all time”!

Later she moved onto her extensive solo career in 1981 with six more albums which again put her in the limelight. Garnering Grammy Award nominations and an Album of The Year, she was inducted in The Hall of Fame in 1998.

In spite of her downfall as a cocaine addict and a dependant on tranquilizers, Stevie Nicks remains a celebrated solo performer releasing her seventh album In Your Dreams last May 3, 2011. Kudos to the prodigy!

Lock into Bootleg Gold today when Al B Euro takes you on a reminiscing trip to the 70s, 80s and 90s, and who knows, maybe even the early 2000s – it’s an Open Season special with Stevie Nicks. Indeed something to anticipate so let’s do it!
