Tenacity pays off. Tenacious D’s Rize of the Fenix claims the #5 spot on the Billboard200 chart this week, selling 44,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Rize of the Fenix’s first-week sales performance marks the band’s best sales week to date: their previous albums, 2006’s The Pick of Destiny and 2001’s self-titled release, debuted lower on the chart their first week out, at #8 and #33, respectively. In addition, Rize of the Fenix scored top-five rankings on album charts around the globe, debuting at number two in the U.K. and Austria, #4 in Ireland and Switzerland and #5 in Germany.
"The brave warriors return savagely beaten down by the long exile in the desert of non-believers," declared the band in a statement. "They emerge triumphant. Survivors of a post-apocalyptic war on rock and roll more heroic and robust than ever before. It is the dawning of a new day. The dawn of the D.”
