The historical movie that translates the history of the Filipinos to 1900 during the American-Filipino war is now ready to premiere in SM Cebu this whole month of July. As of now, Amigo is being helmed as one of the best movies of the year and it is set to become one of the finalists in this year’s entry for international competition.
Amigo is a story about the pre-historic war of the Filipinos against the Americans. It tackles about the long-forgotten heroism of the Filipinos as they fought hard for freedom and liberty. The film is directed by John Sales.
Starring in the film are Chris Cooper, Yul Vasquez, Garret Dillahunt, DJ Qualls , Joel Torre, Bembol Roco, Pen Medina, Ronnie Lazaro and Rio Locsin.
Amigo movie centers on Rafael Dacanay, cabeza of the barrio of San Isidro in a rice-growing area of Luzon but his life had changed because of the mishaps made by his brother that caused Rafael to become an enemy of the Spanish that leads him to another web of deceit and remorse when the American occupation made Rafael face both the Americans and the Filipino patriots, with the deadly consequences.
Amigo is coming to the US theaters on August 19, 2011.
