Once in a while we always get "duped" into watching a movie that we think might be cool enough to pass an hour and a half of our time hoping to be riveted to our seats by the sheer effects, storyline, or all star cast.
Unfortunately, for the movie ATM it just simply didn't live up to the hype simply missing out on all the makings of a movie worth talking about. But you may wonder why I had to talk about it, simply out of courtesy to save you from the dullness and boredom thats why. Luckily I didn't have to shell out for a movie ticket since surprisingly a DVD copy was already circulating online and after downloading it then quickly pausing halfway thru the movie to watch Ep. 11 of The Walking Dead (Season 2) to pass the time I finally ended the miserable movie.
A movie starts off with the main character going to work while police are at a crime scene and the killer drawing up plans for his next kill all happening while the opening credits were running. Next thing we see is the main character getting blown off the phone by someone who lost his 41k due to some bad investments. This supposedly happens during Christmas so a friend at the office then coerces him to join in the party in the hopes of hooking up with the hot girl at the office who was on her last day. That alone would've alerted me to just stop the movie but I did give the film a chance so to speak. After ending up at an ATM in an empty dark parking lot (of all places) where the makings of a usual horror movie, serial killer, and good things go wrong set-up where no one has a working mobile phone, no emergency phone in the ATM booth with a killer who can do things no human should be able to do coincidentally occurs. What's good though is the fact that the three actors act like real people would act... confused, scared, totally f*cked up never turning ballistic or brainy.
But the film drags a little pretty much a one-trick pony, and the director has a serious misstep by making the leads have a "romantic flirt" moment in the middle of the carnage which seems hopelessly and desperately out of place (girl dies after falling and banging her head thru the ATM counter).
For the ending there were no silly twists or "big shocking surprises," just a real, legitimate ending to the movie that was definitely a little unexpected and bizarre considering that the killer is still at large showing that he never was caught on any of the ATM's cameras wherein the main character seemed to be the one who did all the killings. The closing scene then focuses on the killer who goes back to his storage space and plots another kill. So if you want to watch a movie where things go as is and the villain goes scott-free then this is your flick.
