This year’s edition of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club’s signature event – The View Invitational – drew a total of 390 players and a record number of sponsors.

No doubt, it was one of the grandest ever and after four days of competition in the 36-hole tournament, two teams emerged as the best.

Ramontito Garcia and Iggy Clavecilla bagged the overall lowest gross title.  Montito and Iggy are two of the most popular veterans among the amateur golfers of this country.

The lowest net honors went to the tandem of Ed Acain and lawyer Nilo Seno, who edged two other teams in the battle for the top honors via the countback.

The title for Division A went to Jufil Sato and Fernando Mondares while second place went to Toby Florendo and Glen Yap and third place to Victor Gocela and Gus Mata.

The tournament required that a member be paired with a guest.  The Modified Stableford Scoring System was used.

In Division B, Alex Garcia and Nathan Leslie bagged the crown followed by Wendell Yap and Nestor Cabrera on second and on third place was the duo of Jojo Alquizola and Noel Ybañez.

The Garcia-Leslie and the Yap-Cabrera teams also vied for the overall lowest net plum, but lost out in the tie break.

The title for Division C went to the team of lawyer Tito Pintor and Dr. Sim Guinocor.  Second place went to brothers Cesar and Edwin Salimbangon, who lost the battle for the crown via countback.  Third place went to Eddie Manzano and Lino Mabatid.

The best among the seniors, which was for teams with total age of at least 120 years, was the tandem of tournament chairman Vicente Go and Oscar Cornelio.

Second place for the seniors’ class went to Razy Razon and Boy Alegre while third place went to Rey Sanchez and Mario Bancale.

Alex Yeo was recognized for scoring a rare double-eagle on the par-5 hole number 9.  He knocked in his second shot from 160 yards.

The pair of Gene Quintanilla and Junrey Pelayo shared the Skygo motorcycle that was put at stake for an eagle on any par-4 hole.  Quintanilla scored his eagle 2 on hole number 1 while Pelayo made it on the 14th.

Members of the committee were recognized during the award rites.
