 Teams from outside Cebu bagged the titles in the Visayas Eliminations of the Nestea Beach Volley Tournament played in the town of Moalboal on southwestern Cebu.
The HK Beach played host not only to the beach volleyball competition, but also a beach football and an Ultimate (Frisbee) tournament, which were held as side events.
University of Saint La Salle-Bacolod’s Roelene Inaudito and Kerwin Reje bagged the men’s title.
The Bacoloeños beat the tandem of Jade Recaldo and Mike Abria of the University of the Visayas in the final match.
The top two squads along with third placed University of San Jose Recoletos manned by Jade Illut and Jason Uy earned slots to the national finals in Boracay this April 19 to 21.
In the distaff side, Central Philippines University-Iloilo composed of Jovelyn Gonzaga and Fiola Mae Ceballos bagged the crown.
Second place went to Southwestern University manned by Danika Yolanda Gendrauli and Lori Mae Layno.
The third ticket went to USLS composed of Sheryl June Denila and Patty Jane Orendain.
A total of 11 teams played in the women’s division and 12 others in the men’s side.
Several volleyball fanatics went to Moalboal just to watch the games, but many of those who went there just to enjoy the natural white san beach, were also thrilled to see the action.
Aside from the Visayas Eliminations, there are also elimination events in Manila, Luzon, and Mindanao. The top three teams there will also earn tickets to Boracay.
