There is a place in the bustling beaches of Mactan, which is ideal to those who want to find a good dining spot. One should check out the Maribago Grill & Restaurant. With that name it already gives away its location in the well-known barangay of Maribago that is home to many beach resorts.
What you can find is an open restaurant composed of native-style huts using the signature anahaw leaves. In its center stands a towering acacia tree giving the place a cool breeze, shade and a tropical island vibe. It’s almost like walking into a mini jungle enough to make one forget that just a few meters away is the main road. At nighttime, the place is made more attractive as the capiz-covered lights that hang on the trees emit a soft, golden glow.
Maribago Grill & Restaurant serves mainly Filipino dishes and a few choices of Japanese and Chinese cuisine. Its bestsellers are the steamed lapu-lapu, garlic shrimps and crabs, grilled spareribs, chicken mango salad with papaya seed dressing, and its proudly authentic bird’s nest soup. These dishes are best paired with Maribago rice, the restaurant’s own recipe known for its inclusion of dried fish flakes. Its selection of desserts and fruit shakes is also a must-try. Instead of using plain sugar, it uses its own syrup as sweetener.
The place has been in operation for almost 9 years already and its customers are mostly foreign tourists. Being a hotspot for tourists, one might assume that the place would be relatively expensive, but all the dishes found in the menu are priced reasonably.
Maribago Grill & Restaurant has one of the most interesting dining concepts found in Cebu. One can enjoy the delicious tastes of his favorite dishes in a lush tropical forest ambiance.
