The 23rd James Bond adventure finally has a name. At a star-studded press conference in London Thursday, Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes revealed not only the name of his 007 adventure, Skyfall, but also officially introduced some members of the cast to the press.
While it was already known that Daniel Craig will be reprising his role as the suave MI6 agent -- and Judi Dench his boss M -- Mendes introduced the newest "Bond girls" to the series. Javier Bardem was also on hand, confirming his recent lip-slip that he'd be playing the villain. Mendes revealed Ralph Fiennes and Albert Finney will also appear in the movie, in roles that the director couldn't yet reveal. Neither actor was present at the event.
In fact, much of the movie is still shrouded in mystery. Mendes explained just the basics of the plot, which apparently centers on an attack on MI6 that will have Bond questioning his loyalty to M.
British actress Naomie Harris will play a field agent named Eve, while stunning French actress Bérénice Marlohe (BERRIN-NEECE MAR-LOW) said at the event she'd play an "enigmatic character named Severin." Craig expressed that all involved want to "make the best Bond movie we possibly could, and that's Bond with a capital 'B.'" Mendes promised "a lot of action," in the film, which will shoot in various locations, including London, Scotland, Istanbul, and China.
Shooting on Skyfall got underway Thursday. The film debuts in the U.S. November 12, 2012.
