Forget about the burgundy, muted pastels and fuchsia, which have dominated 2012, because Pantone has just announced that emerald is set to be the color of 2013.
And well, it’s not huge surprise; the shade was certainly a great hit backstage at the spring/summer 2013 shows. At Stella McCartney emerald liner was swept across the lower lash line, while the Christian Dior models sported rich emerald pigments on crystal-encrusted lids.  And don’t even get us started on the matching emerald shadow and nails at Kenzo.

Symbolically, emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal, and rejuvenation, which is so important in today's complex world according to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.  She added that this powerful and appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors. And ideally what’s not to love about all of the above right?

When it comes to beauty however, women should be prepared to put money there being a fair few of them who find emerald makeup more than a little intimidating.  As it happens however, this shade is far more wearable than one would think.  Beauty editor Lauren Murdock Smith of Grazia shares that emeralds are one of her favorite gem stones because they look fabulous on any skin tone. Not just make up but also for emerald makeup; it enhances even the palest skin due to its warm undertones and is far more flattering than mint green. Worn as makeup it rather conveniently replicates this really decadent jewel effect too.

So if you are raring to change your color scheme for 2013 best take in all the emerald colored items you can muster so you would be in this coming year!
