Cebu’s Pop District Bazaar set its shops on April 15 and 16 at Oakridge Pavillon in Mandaue City.

A bazaar where you can find the most amazing, unique trinkets and other things, Pop District Bazaar promotes micro enterprises and local entrepreneurs. It encourages people to do business and gives shoppers a good shopping environment for an excellent shopping experience. It did exactly that when I visited the bazaar and got treated to a refreshingly cool shopping event despite the scorching El Niño outside of the business center where the bazaar was located.

Famous bloggers from Manila and Cebu were on a platform inside the bazaar where fans lined up to take pictures with them. I asked one kid what she and her friends were doing in the bazaar and she told me that they came mostly for the bloggers but got treated with great food and nice shops spread around. “I came here to see Kryz Uy, a fashion blogger, but the venue also caught my eye. The best thing was the free tastes. I got to taste brownies and fries. The clothing stores are really nice too. They are really affordable.” Kryz Uy was in the bazaar and sold her preloved stuff and her own line of bags called February.

Not only were there bloggers in Pop District Bazaar, but also aspiring entrepreneurs who are trying to make profit and have just recently started their business. Young business-minded individuals like Keizen Pogoy, 21 years old and Diday Hamoy, 20, can be found in the bazaar selling their own type of clothes. It is the first time Keizen has set up shop even though she has been selling clothes since 2014. She feels really excited about the bazaar and she has just sold clothes to over 20 people already that day. Her shop is called Zen Shop and she is selling boho style outfits. Diday in the other hand set her shop Diday’s Hinayhay somewhere in the middle of the bazaar. Diday’s clothes were literally hanging inside her shop and she sells outfits specfically for summer because many girls are looking for OOTD’s right now. Hand selected herself, Diday sells crop tops, up shoulder dresses, and co-ord set.

The bazaar wasn’t only limited to target female shoppers, because even young male entrepreneurs were there selling their products for boys. Four young lads from Clatlets are there selling gaming equipment, Dry-FIT shirts, shoes and rastaclat wristbands. The boys hope someday they can develop themselves and train themselves to become entrepreneurs like all the successful people. Pop District Bazaar offered them a good platform for exactly that.

There were so many unique shops inside the bazaar. I spotted a food stall where some young boys were selling flavored puso. You can buy one flavored puso for P25 or two for P40. Flavor options are chicken adobo, pork humba, and lechon paksiw. Another stall I spotted somewhere in the corner was selling boozy popsicles. With just only a 10% alcohol rate, you can still enjoy their banana daiquiri Popsicle for P90.

The food stalls were indeed one of the best things in the bazaar. There were a lot of food stalls offering free tastes like Pie who gave out free samples of his delicious apple pies and is probably the only shop here in Cebu who is selling American-style pies. A pastry shop called Chef’s Table was also inside giving out free samples of their brownies and selling their beautiful and tasty cakes and gulaman juices.

Pop District Bazaar was indeed an excellent shopping experience suited for anybody looking to have a great time and trying to cool off from the heat outside. Pop District Bazaar will be setting its shops again in September.
