1. Did you know that there is a Government Agency specifically created with the mandate to oversee SCUBA Diving activities in the country? It is the Philippine Commission on Sports SCUBA Diving or PCSSD. PCSSD is an attached agency under the Philippine Department of Tourism since 1986.

2. Gone SCUBA Diving? Did air coming out of your tank smell funny or funky? Did it give you headaches or make you nauseous? You just might have had bad or contaminated air that’s bad for your health. It can cause blackouts underwater and can lead to dive accidents! The air you should be breathing when SCUBA diving should be clean! So choose to “dive safe PH” (#divesafePH). Look for the Philippine Commission on Sports SCUBA Diving air quality test results or PCSSD accreditation seal.

3. SCUBA diving is a more fun activity this Visit the Philippines Year 2015! But like all other activities when done irresponsibly or over the limit, can result to accidents. One risk which can be avoided is Decompression Sickness or so called ‘Bends’ a state of excessive accumulation of Nitrogen in the body which may be acquired because of numerous repetitive dives or deep dive profiles. Bends cases are reversible provided that there is immediate access to first aid which is the administration of 100% Oxygen at 15 liters per minute. Dive Establishments Accredited with the Philippine Commission on Sports SCUBA Diving are required to have this for the safety of their SCUBA diving guests. So, choose to “dive safe PH” (#divesafePH)! Choose PCSSD Accredited!

This advisory has been brought to you by the Philippine Commission on Sports SCUBA Diving (PCSSD). For the complete list if Accredited Dive Establishments, visit www.divephilipines.com.ph. Choose to Dive Safe! Choose PCSSD accredited dive establishments.
