While SM Seaside City Cebu is overwhelmed by the welcoming shoppers of the metro, Robinsons Galleria Cebu (RGC) is starting to catch up to mass media hype. Set to open on December 10th, Robinsons Galleria is part of a 4.7-hectare mixed-use development at the Cebu North Reclamation Area. Aside from the mall, the development will also offer 9,000 square meters of business process outsourcing (BPO) office space, a Go Hotel and residential condominium towers. This easily makes the establishment Robinsons Land Corp.’s largest development outside Metro Manila yet.
Meanwhile, according to a report published by Cebu Daily News, Robinsons Land Corp. is asking Cebu City Hall to allow SM’s MyBus and more public utility vehicles to serve the area near the new mall. Only nine PUJ routes have direct access to RGC which mostly cover the south part of Cebu City and Mandaue City. These are PUJs with route numbers 01B, 01C, 01I, 02B, 12G, 21A, 22G, 22D, and 21D.
The article published by CDN also further explains that there are also five PUJ routes that pass around 200 meters away from the mall. These are PUJs with route numbers 10M, 01K, 10H, 21B and 24A, which cover the areas of Bulacao and Urgello in south Cebu City and parts of Mandaue City and Consolacion. Robinsons regional operations manager Floramie Vega asked that a bus station for SM’s proposed High Quality Public Transportation System (HQPTS) be established at the mall and is currently recommending that the five aforementioned routes pass by the mall.
