Missy Elliot, 48, received the Video Vanguard Award at the 2019 VMA’s and became the first female rapper to receive the honor. Elliot is a well established, producer, rapper and songwriter and is the first female rapper in the show’s 35-year history to receive the award.

But Elliot’s MTV Video Music Awards performance also had epic moments, including Alyson Stoner’s solo dance number during her musical medley.

Fans may remember Stoner as the little girl with pigtails and a pink tracksuit who showed off her break dancing moves in the 2002 video of ‘Work It’.

Elliot’s medley of performances channeled the imagery of the original videos and included the new song “Throw it Back,” along with the classic “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)," which was her breakout hit in 1997. Fans reveled in Missy’s recreations of “Get Ur Freak On,” “Lose Control,” “Pass that Dutch" and “Work It," which featured Stoner’s cameo.

Since her ‘Work It’ breakthrough, Stoner, now 26, has also been a dancer for other artists, including Eminem and Will Smith. And she also had hosting stints in Disney Channel’s “Mike Super Short Show” from 2002 and had cameo appearances as Camille Gage in the Step Up franchise.
